Presentation of the Oceanographic Institute
Robert Calcagno is the Chief Executive Officer of the Oceanographic Institute, Foundation Albert I, Prince of Monaco, comprised of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco and the Home of the Oceans in Paris. Previously Advisor to the Cabinet of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, he is strongly committed to the cause of the oceans.
Robert Calcagno frequently hosts international meetings on sustainable management of the oceans and often speaks in favor of Marine Protected Areas, the preservation of the deep seas or the protection of sharks. He is the author of several popular books, including Méditerranée : splendide, fragile, vivante, Les Grands fonds - Voyage dans un monde inconnu, Requins, au-delà du malentendu and Méduses: A la conquête des océans published by the Editions du Rocher. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Prince Albert II of Monaco, of the Mercantour National Park in the Alps Mountains, and of the World Ocean Network.
